Operations Financial Analyst

Our opening is for a financially and business savvy professional to provide financial and operational analysis and recommendations to key leaders of our commercial service business. This guru will work directly with our Vice Presidents of Operations and Sales to collect, monitor, and study data and recommend actions to our Service business managers.

Ideally, this position will be based out of our Richmond Corporate office, but qualified individuals who can commute to Richmond on a weekly basis will be considered if they can work from our Manassas or Newport News offices.

What you’ll do

  1. Collects and analyzes operational data
  2. Identifies financial status by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts
  3. Determines cost of operations by establishing standard costs
  4. Guides cost analysis process by establishing and enforcing policies and procedures; provides trends and forecasts; explains processes and techniques; and recommends actions
  5. Improves financial status by analyzing results; monitoring variances; identifying trends; recommending actions to management.
  6. Works closely with Service Operations Managers and communicates financial and operational data to managers and staff
  7. Evaluates, compares and a conducts internal and external profit studies, benchmarks and performance analyses.
  8. Monitors financial and operational processes and makes recommendations for improvements
  9. As necessary, provides research support to staff relative to operational finances
  10. Reconciles transactions by comparing and correcting data
  11. Maintains accurate company data by entering, verifying, and backing up data
  12. Recommends actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses; studies proposed changes in methods and materials
  13. Stays current and monitors industry-related business practices and developments by analyzing information from financial publications and services, government agencies, trade publications, company sources, personal interviews, etc.
  14. Prepares and distributes reports and statistical data to facilitate operational analysis.
  15. Develop charts, tables and graphs to illustrate financial trends.
  16. Protects operations by keeping financial information confidential
  17. Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing publications.
  18. Visits and works remotely from satellite offices as needed.

What we’re looking for

  • Minimum of three years’ work experience as an operational or financial analyst.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four year college or university in finance or related field

  • Knowledge of techniques for conducting quantitative financial analysis of information
  • Client management skills; ability to manage customer relationships, perceptions and expectations
  • Advanced proficiency with technology including strong Microsoft Office experience.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to interpret complex problems, evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Strong attention to detail, mathematical, critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Ability to handle day-to-day administrative tasks relating to work assignments. 
  • Ability to deal diplomatically and communicate effectively with internal and external customers
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize, coordinate and perform multiple activities effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor, organized, achievement oriented, positive, innovative and self-motivated
  • Ability to effectively write and create reports and business correspondence
  • Ability to work in an dynamic and fast-paced work environment
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
