PSM Technician Apprentice

ColonialWebb is looking for an Apprentice to join our growing Process Safety Management team. This is a great opportunity to learn about Process Safety and develop your career as an expert in industrial safety!

Summary: Work alongside a PSM technician in learning how to use meters and instruments to test and analyze industrial refrigeration equipment, generate reports, and communicate results to customers.

Process Safety Management (PSM)

PSM refers to process safety management programs for refrigeration systems commonly found in food distribution centers, cold storage, and food processing facilities. PSM Coordinators lead compliance reviews, perform safety inspections, and create checklists and guidelines for customer specific programs.

 What you’ll do

• Perform vibration analysis for ammonia compressors
• Perform Oil analysis for ammonia compressors
• Use ultrasonic thickness meter to generate integrity reports on ammonia piping and vessels
• Perform thermograph analysis via thermal images
• Perform ammonia sensor calibration by use of a multi-meter
• Observe and read gauges, meters and other instruments in analysis and data collection.
• Travel to customer sites
• Generate reports from data collected
• Communicate and provide results and professional reports to manufactures and customers

Preferred Requirements

• Completion of a Trade School
• Three years or more of Industrial Refrigeration experience

Minimum Requirements

• One to Two years of Industrial Refrigeration, HVAC, or Electrical Experience
• High School Diploma or GED
• Possess a valid driving license and willing to travel
• Ability to read and understand meters and other measuring equipment
• Ability to comprehend, interpret, and analyze technical data
• Computer and software proficiency to include Microsoft Office
• Strong report writing skills & command of the English language (i.e., grammar, usage & spelling)
• Ability to operate scissor and man lifts
• Ability to work without direct supervision
• Ability to deal diplomatically and effectively with customers
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to coordinate and perform multiple activities in a timely manner
• Ability to maintain a sense of urgency, but remain calm, when handling emergencies
