Industrial Refrigeration Apprentice

Comfort Systems USA-ColonialWebb is seeking Refrigeration Apprentices to join our teams.

Location:  This position will service the Richmond, Williamsburg, Hampton Roads (Newport News, Hampton, Norfolk) areas.

What you’ll do

Refrigeration Apprentices perform maintenance and repair operations pertaining to large, complex industrial cooling/refrigeration systems and associated control systems under the guidance of a Master Technician.

• Develop expertise of evaporative condensers, large control systems, complex conventional electrical controls and Industrial Refrigeration Systems (ammonia, cascade and rack systems with the ability to rebuild commercial/industrial compressors).
• Diagnosis causes of equipment breakdowns
• Test parts with appropriate instruments
• Disassemble and assemble parts 
• Make necessary repairs to equipment and associated components

What we’re looking for

• Navy Nuclear or Navy experience as Electronics Technician, Electrician Mate, or Machinist Mate ( a plus, but not required)
• Industry experience in operating or repairing (ammonia) industrial refrigeration systems ( a plus, but not required)
• Electrical and controls knowledge and experience relative to industrial or nuclear equipment 
• Ability to maintain and focus on training objectives given by Master Service Technician
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work in hot/cold environments
• Possess a valid driving license and willing to travel
• Ability to work under and without direct supervision
• Ability to maintain a sense of urgency, but remain calm when handling emergencies
• Ability to deal diplomatically and communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
