Service Projects Manager (Industrial Refrigeration)

Are you a skilled Ammonia Refrigeration Technician looking to make the move to project management?

Our Service Projects Manager role is an exciting role that combines finding customers, estimating work, selling, and running projects. Typical projects include change-outs, retrofits, installations, and other service projects relative to industrial refrigeration and piping.

Location:  Norfolk, VA.

What you’ll do

  1. Perform research and make client contact to identify and prioritize potential customers.
  2. Visit customer facilities and perform engineering research to gain an understanding of customer requirements and identify project scope.
  3. Develop detailed analysis of customer, system, and equipment requirements.
  4. Produce comprehensive conceptual engineering and design packages, reports, and documents.
  5. Provide technical engineering information to ensure work complies with engineering standards.
  6. Develop and prepare estimates, quotes, proposals and presentations.
  7. Sell jobs to customers.
  8. Strengthen relationships with key customers through effective communication and engineering.
  9. Put together the complete job setup package upon award of project.
  10. Perform Project Management duties such as obtaining technical support for field personnel, reviewing and analyzing job costs, maintain project schedule, attend job-site meetings, assist with the billing and collections process, as well as ensuring job close-out documentation is complete.
  11. Preview job cost reports to monitor project results in comparison to estimate.
  12. Maintain project documents, develop and submit RFI’s, and enter purchase orders.
  13. Coordinate project logistics to include vendors, subcontractors and delivery of materials.
  14. Gather job close-out data and perform final walk-throughs with customer.
  15. Supervise personnel assigned.

What we’re looking for

  1. Minimum of 5 years senior or master level ammonia refrigeration service experience
  2. Knowledge of industrial refrigeration piping systems and equipment associated with ammonia refrigeration systems for food distribution centers, cold storage, and food processing facilities
  3. Knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications.
  4. Knowledge of building materials, engineering standards and codes.
  5. Client management skills; ability to manage customer relationships, perceptions and expectations
  6. Production management skills; ability to visualize, plan, and execute to achieve budgeted goals
  7. Ability to communicate effectively and deal diplomatically with internal and external customers
  8. Strong analysis and problem solving skills to resolve complex engineering problems
  9. Strong refrigeration, controls, electronics, electrical, and mechanical knowledge
  10. Knowledge of current International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration, Refrigeration Engineers and Technician Association, and OSHA safety regulations
  11. Proficiency interfacing with technology, including Microsoft Excel and PLC knowledge
  12. Possess a valid driver’s license and willing to travel 30% of time (15% overnight travel).
  13. Capable of maintaining a high energy level to handle a dynamic, fast-paced workload
  14. Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
