The Industrial Refrigeration Piping Detailer/Drafter is responsible for generating CAD documents including project coordination drawings, working shop drawings, and any documents that support shop and construction operations. 

Location:  Norfolk, VA.

What you’ll do

• Coordinate and detail work in accordance with plans and specifications, and ColonialWebb fabrication standards.  Where conflicts occur, advise the respective Project Manager.
• Document and provide marked up submittals to Project Manager showing any modifications, or discrepancies related to equipment and piping devices.
• Work in a collaborative manner with the respective Project Engineer to reduce cost of installation through efficient layout and acceptable changes to contract drawings.  Project management has the authority to direct changes in layout.
• During coordination, create an efficient layout by eliminating unnecessary pipe, and fitting.
• Monitor and report to your Project Engineer and the respective Project Manager when coordination and detailing requires work above and beyond that indicated on the contract drawings.
• Attend job meetings as requested by the Project Manager.  Advise respective Project Engineer when required to attend jobsite meetings.
• Where conflicts in direction or priority arise, contact the Engineering Manager immediately.
• Review and make familiar all project documents and thoroughly understand scope of work.
• Provide accurate estimates for completion of assignments to the Engineering Manager.
• Communicate with the respective Project Manager or Project Engineer as required to accomplish assigned tasks.  Document directives and notify the respective Project Engineer of any changes effecting the completion of your work.
• Provide daily/weekly progress reports. (i.e.: footage, weld inches, hangers, and any reports pertaining to your discipline as required by the Project Engineer).
• All Detailers are responsible for generating full coordination and fabrication drawings for fabrication and provide all necessary paperwork to complete task.  (i.e.: equipment, accessories, footage, weld inches, feet of pipe, etc.).

What we’re looking for:

Preferred Requirements

• Understanding of piping systems relative to the mechanical construction industry

• Working knowledge of TSI software
• Commercial/industrial industry knowledge with field experience at a Foreman’s level
• Knowledge of industrial refrigeration piping systems and equipment associated with ammonia refrigeration systems for food distribution centers, cold storage, and food processing facilities

Minimum Requirements

• 3+ years’ CAD detailing and design experience in the mechanical construction industry
• Experience with AutoCAD 2010.
• Experience with 3D design.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet project deadlines.
• Ability to deal diplomatically and communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
• Excellent administrative and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
