Performs maintenance, troubleshooting and repair operations pertaining to large, complex, heating and cooling systems and associated BAS and control systems. Maintains quality of work to acceptable Company standards and represents the Company to customers in a manner that ensures a positive relationship.


Primary Responsibilities/Duties

  • Ensures adherence to proper departure and arrival procedures through-out the workday.
  • Maintains strict adherence to all Company safety rules and practices.
  • Maintains a neat, clean and professional appearance at all times, including the individual, his/her truck, tools, and equipment.
  • Maintains all Company and customer property in a clean and orderly manner at all times.
  • Obtains purchase orders and make small purchases required during the performance of work, including maintaining sufficient standard truck inventory; conduct inventory of all standard truck stock as required.
  • Maintains consistent compliance with Company policies and procedures as they relate to proper completion of departmental documentation such as, but not limited to, time cards, work orders, refrigerant accountability logs, and material and equipment return tags.
  • Ensures the Service Coordinator informed at all times as to “where he/she is”, “where he/she has been”, and “where he/she is going”.
  • Attends periodic meetings with supervisor as required to review work progress and potential problems felt to be beyond his/her ability or authority.
  • Exhibits clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Diagnoses causes of equipment breakdowns, tests parts with appropriate instruments, disassembles and assembles parts, and makes necessary repairs to equipment and associated components; primary area of expertise is chilled water systems (min. 100 tons), large boilers and cooling towers, large control systems (pneumatic and digital), Building Automation Systems, computer room a/c units, VAV rooftop systems (min. 30 ton) and complex conventional electrical controls. 
  • Performs preventive maintenance and inspection tasks as defined in each maintenance agreement maintaining strict adherence to all budget objectives; obtains clearly defined directives from the Service Coordinator on the specific tasks to be performed; assist the coordinator in scheduling such inspections based on location, man-hour requirements, priorities, customer coordination’s, and material pick-ups; maintain total responsibility for timely performance of maintenance inspections.

Requirements

  • Five years BAS Technician experience or equivalent technical knowledge, skills and experience
  • LON, BACnet, Tridium, Johnson and American Auto-Matrix experience and certifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of current BOCA Code and OSHA safety regulations.

  • Ability to maintain a sense of urgency, but remain calm when handling emergencies
