Pipefitter Foreman, Construction

Comfort Systems USA-ColonialWebb is seeking experienced pipefitter foreman or assistant superintendent for commercial construction projects in Central Virginia: Richmond, Williamsburg, Prince William, etc.

What you’ll do

Supervises and coordinates activities of Mechanics, Apprentices, and Helpers in fabricating, assembling, installing, and maintaining pipes and equipment for gas, steam, hot water, fire sprinkler systems, and industrial processing systems.

  • Assigns workers to specific duties.
  • Inspects work in process and completed work to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Trains new workers in use of equipment and tools and their safe usage.
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of assigned craft workers.
  • Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders as needed for area of supervision.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Establishes and adjusts work sequences to meet construction schedules, using knowledge of capacities of equipment and assigned personnel.
  • May study schedules and estimate worker-hour requirements for completion of job.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems.
  • Maintains time records.
  • May make cost estimate for contracts
  • Perform duties of a Pipefitter as described separately.
  • Maintains good housekeeping and a safe work area.
  • Teach, coach and provide direction to apprentices and helpers to work safely, deliver quality, and work productivity.
  • Works safely, encourages others to do so, and complies with applicable health and safety-related rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Performs the duties of a helper as described separately.

 

What we’re looking for

  • Minimum of five years industry experience.
  • Completion of apprenticeship program and/or trade licensure.
  • Knowledge of International Mechanical Code (IMC) and OSHA safety regulations.
  • Able to install work from drawings, submittals and specifications
  • Able to read and understand project related documents in the English language.
  • Knowledge of basic construction/shop math (addition, subtraction, division, fraction, and multiplication).
  • Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
  • Ability to make decisions based on information at hand.
  • Work easily and skillfully with hands.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and willing to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and deal diplomatically with coworkers other tradesmen.
  • Drug testing and current US work authorization required
